Why Am I Still Single? 4 Reasons and Tips

Updated: Apr 21, 2022

We’ve all asked the question. “Why am I still single”? In today’s blog post/video, I want to share 4 reasons and tips with you in hopes to encourage and uplift!

It can be discouraging to see everyone around getting married or in happy relationships. Not to mention, it’s like when one person gets engaged, everyone gets in engaged!

Or is it just me?

We then fall into a trap of comparison. Question ourselves, even God at times.

I know exactly how you feel and what you’ve thought.

I’m 23 with no boyfriend. Not even an actual prospect.

But, God has taught me so much in this season of singleness. I know that’s cliquey to say, but it’s true!

Down below my YouTube video is linked as well! I bring up the same points but go in a bit more depth. There will also be time stamps for you as well.

Why Am I Still Single, TIP 1: Not Everything Is Good

It’s in our nature to think we know everything. We hate being wrong! A lot of times, if we aren’t careful that pride can lead us into decisions that are harmful.

There is no doubt we know what we want, especially our flesh. But, the fact is, we don’t know what we need.

Only God truly does.

Are you keeping your desires in line with God? If your desire has become more important to you than his, it’s out of order.

Then, it becomes a sin.

There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. Proverbs 16:25

God truly is the author and illustrator of your life. If, you allow him to be!

It’s easy for us to think in the now. To become fixated on what we don’t have. When we walk into that trap we miss something important.

Every season has its purpose. God designed it that way and he even demonstrates it in the natural season.

Fall/Winter, things wither away and die or go dormant.

Spring/Summer, new growth takes place and things awaken.

Our seasons of life affect others. Friends, family, your community/church. You make not think so, but who you choose to be, affects those in your life one way or another.

Not only that, but it affects your future too. Your future ministry, husband, and family.

God is the only one capable of seeing the bigger picture. He knows.

You just have to trust that all these pieces will fit together one day and you will see the big picture he has for you!

His promises are always for the bigger picture.

Check in with yourself. Is your desire for marriage to please God and fulfill his design for it? Or, is it about pleasing your flesh?

Your prayers are more than words. They are actions too. God knows what is behind every door. Even your doors.

Somethings God waits on us.

He gives us time to change our motives so then our behavior changes.

You truly trust in God that he will bring you your significant other in his timing, then you wouldn’t be flirting to convert or constantly questioning.

God will not bless us with his best until we love with a heart of obedience.

A season of healing can be one of the hardest to get through.

Healing is necessary for our present so we don’t carry it into our future.

Some past hurts, if not dealt with, can affect your future relationship.

If you’ve been cheated on and you haven’t dealt with the emotional/mental scars more than likely you will question.

Fear will creep in and plant thoughts and questions towards your significant other. Which then can become toxic in the relationship.

It’s not about having it all figured out or being “fixed”.

Healing takes place in layers.

I truly hope this encourages you and uplifts your spirit.

You are not the only one who has asked the question, “Why am I still single?”

I know it can be challenging.

Always remember, your sacrifice sets you up for his will!

Use your time of being single to invest in yourself, family, friends, and God.

Trust God’s timing! Because when we take control we delay his fulfillment in our life.

Also, don’t forget to watch my video where I share a little more about each topic!

Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. Psalms 37:4-5
